There're a great deal of goods sold in the market which are promoted as improving your metabolism and as a consequence aiding you to drop some pounds. Often these products have dubious effectiveness, and might cost a lot of cash. Here are a few free of charge strategies which will fire your metabolic rate up and have you losing weight.
Try to eat hot and spicy foods
Hot ingredients such as capsicum peppers, chili peppers, ginger, horseradish and wasabi have been shown to improve your metabolic process for several hours right after consumption. Caution: this is not a reason to eat a fat-laden lamb bhuna!
Stay well hydrated
There is a myth floating around that sipping ice cold water can cause you to burn more calories, as your system will have to use energy heating the water up. Sounds great, but there is absolutely no evidence to back this up!
However I am not saying that water isn't a factor for fat reduction. Staying properly hydrated will boost your vitality, aid digestion, and aid your body in getting rid of waste and fat.
Try to eat with greater regularity
Eating smaller, more frequent meals helps to stabilise blood sugar levels, leaves you less hungry (and therefore less likely to give in to temptations) and increases metabolic rate by assisting the system break down the food and transform it into energy faster.
De-stress
When we are distressed, our systems produce a hormone named Cortisol which can affect metabolic performance. If a large amount of Cortisol is created, this can lead to fat gain. Try to take the opportunity each day to de-stress with a long stroll, a great book, a calming bath, a manicure, meditation or whatever else - non-food-related obviously!
Build muscle
You've probably heard it said before that "muscle can burn more than fat" or "muscle weighs more than fat". Not so scientific, but simply put, muscle tissues need more energy than fat cells even while the body is at rest. Add some weight training to your aerobic exercise and you will find your muscle mass improving and your daily calorie burn increasing along with it.
Get plenty of rest
While we sleep, our systems restore muscle or other tissue which happens to be hurt. Muscle can only be built by tearing it and rebuilding it (which is why you feel sore after having a strength exercise routine or unaccustomed activity.) This process is not effective if you are not getting plenty of rest. As described above, muscle mass can help you use up more calories on a daily basis.
Increase your protein consumption
Rather than a bag of chips, have some greek yoghurt, cottage cheese or grilled chicken breast as a treat. Protein is more difficult for the body to break down, which means you burn more energy just consuming it. Also, protein is crucial for building muscle tissue.
Remove sugar
Although it may offer you a quick energy boost, processed sugar sends your blood sugar levels spiking and then crashing, which throws your metabolic rate into mayhem. Rather than a cupcake, reach for an apple or orange instead. It will release its sugars more gently, providing you with a sustained energy boost with no corresponding crash.
Move about more
Research indicates that people who fidget a little more can burn up to a third more calories than those who are naturally still. Whilst it would be tricky (and doubtlessly irritating!) to build up restless behavior, it is always good to move around more frequently - especially if you have a desk job or spend most of your working day at school. Make the most of every opportunity to move - go to the water cooler at least once an hour, get up and wander around during the commercial break, take a walk at lunchtime instead of sitting down and watching television. When you are caught in traffic in your car, devise an upper body dance exercise to go along with whatever you happen to be listening to. I must admit this has garnered me a few concerned looks from other drivers!
Keep these points in mind, and you will increase your metabolism - without spending a penny.
